MAR 19th, 2026

With historic warm temperatures and little to no refreeze at all elevations at night, we expect to see wet slab avalanches on the little bit of terrain that is still holding onto snow. This will be on upper elevation, northerly and some east aspects. Some of these avalanches could be large failing on wet or moist depth hoar near the ground.

We are going to be putting avalanche center operations on hold with low snow, continued warm temperatures, and no snow in the long-range forecast. We’ve produced a General Avalanche Information Product (click the blue map) with links to weather resources and avalanche considerations to watch out for if you’re getting out. We will update if we do see a significant storm, and hopefully we do get some much-needed moisture in April.
