Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

Sw winds were stiff this morning, but due to valley effects wind was blowing NW in the cirque. The crust-facet-crust sandwich that formed in the apron in the early winter continues to persist. No cracking observed. New snow was still largely cohesion-less. Snow near ridge line sits on a stout wind packed layer that sits almost directly on dirt. Current wind transporting loose snow.
