Observations

On a north west facing slope above the Winsor, we observed a storm slab avalanche below the Winsor Trail, and a crack above the Winsor trail. It was unclear if this was skier triggered or natural. From the presence of surface hoar on the avalanche debris, I think that this ran during the day yesterday. No stiffening underfoot was noted on heavens hill, and no wind slab development was present in BTL terrain that we traveled on. Surface hoar had formed over many aspects along the route in the morning, but some of it had collapsed by the warm up in the afternoon. No cracking or sudden collapses in travels. Most areas that we traveled through had a 1 foot storm slab resting on top of the rotten base of facets.
