Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

Went for a ski today in the Winsor area with some friends. The snowpack was faceted from top to bottom on the N facing aspect we dug our pit in, and every step off skis resulted in post hole-ing up to our waist. The pit did not show the snowpack to be extremely touchy, but when we stressed it beyond the test scores, it tended to fail on the ground.
