Warm sunny day, with the new snow taking a lot of heat on any solar aspects. Winds were strong this morning but quickly died down transporting snow at ridgetops in the opposite direction we're typically accustomed to

Snowpack Observations

It felt a lot like spring today with the snowpack taking lot's heat starting mid-morning. It's that time of year when you need to hop on some powder early before the sun gets to it. There was obvious wind-affected snow but did not observe it to be sensitive with travels, not experiencing any cracking or collapsing.

The 4 to 6" fell on crusts to hard-packed slabs and near-surface facets depending on the aspect and elevation. The biggest concern today seemed to be the warming of the snowpack with rollerballs and pinwheels and loose wet snow avalanches later in the day.
