Signs of Unstable Snow

Hs 55 ct19 rough planer at 10 cm
ectx 25 @ 20 cm

Went out to Heaven Hill for a ski. Boot penetration was to the ground. Still plenty of ground hazards to strike. Snow remained soft with no apparent wind or sun effects. Dug a pit on N facing aspect at 12000 feet.

Height of snow was 55cm
The snow was all F density, though the crystals changed in size from 3+mm facets at the bottom of the pack to <1 mm facets near the surface.
