More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Traveled near treeline and above treeline on N/NE/E slopes. The east to northeast snowpacks below ridge lines, particularly in shallower areas sheltered by trees or rock outcrops, are beginning to facet. Above treeline on similar aspects, the snow pack is incredibly variable. The surface was firm, wind packed snow.

A cold morning was quickly warmed up by the sun. Temperatures remained just below freezing during the warmest part of the day, around 28F. Very sunny day, with minimal cloud cover. Solar aspects were taking heat. Below and near treeline, there was no noticeable wind. Above treeline on ridge lines, strong western winds were flowing.
