More detailed information about the snowpack:

Below tree line we are finding a shallower snow pack. Near tree line and above tree line, there are supportable slabs which we are able to travel o.

Due to strong gusting winds, in many places a stiff wind slab had formed on the surface near and above tree line.

We have two distinct snow pack issues: mid pack faceting on solar aspects, and depth hoar. We are finding depth hoar on the ground North through East aspects. Extended Column Tests are indicating moderate to hard force to get these depth hoar layers to fail. It has the ability to propagate. On solar aspects we are finding mid pack faceting, around crusts. Stability tests on these persistent weak layers are producing clean shears with easy to moderate force. Overall, we have stiff supportable slabs that are overtop of these persistent weak layers.

Photo 1: Wind above tree line. Snow redistributing on the surface.

Photo 2: Just above tree line. Firm wind slabs on surface, which new snow is falling on. Potential bed surface.

Photo 3: Mid snow pack faceting around crusts.

Photo 4: Snowpilot pit. Near tree line. ECTP21 on depth hoar on North aspect. Supportable slabs on top.
