2016-2017 Season Review: Year 1 of the Taos Avalanche Center is in the books. You can read the season review here. Thanks for a great and safe season and we look forward to seeing you next winter!
Welcome to the Taos Avalanche Center. Snow is starting to fall in the mountains and skiing and winter recreation is on our mind. Be prepared and informed on current avalanche and weather conditions. Please check out the website and follow us throughout the winter. We plan on producing a 4 day a week snowpack summary (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) that will be uploaded to the site in the morning. This will include updated weather provided by the National Weather Service, recent observations and Avalanche Characteristics. Please check out our videos and snowpack/avalanche observations as well as submit your own observations. You'll find great educational resources on the site under the education section. The National Weather Service has also been willing to provide an elevational recreational forecast for the Wheeler Peak Wilderness area. We look forward to having avalanche educational talks as well avalanche awareness days for the upcoming winter season. Please check back on the site for future dates and like the Taos Avalanche Center on Facebook and Instagram.
Please bare with us as we get the website up and running. And please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Here's to a snowy and safe winter season!
